FREE NICOTINE REPLACEMENT THERAPY UPDATE

The Health Directorate has recently received statistics on the early use of the free Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) and the Smoking Cessation Support Service.

Since 1 July, 43 people have received the free NRT. The Health Directorate would like to encourage those who have started on the ‘quit process’ to return for further advice, support and any further NRT.

The service offers appointments for smokers to get practical advice about the more effective ways to help them kick the habit for good. Nurses can recommend the best form of NRT for individuals.

A free four-week period of an appropriate NRT can be obtained when persons have been seen by the service. The free period ‘offer’ is available up until May next year so smokers can choose to attend when they feel ready to quit.

Appointments can be booked via the Appointments Clerk on tel: 22321 or by calling the Half Tree Hollow Clinic on tel: 23563.
