CHARMAINE BUCKLEY TO STUDY DENTAL THERAPY & HYGIENE

Charmaine Buckley from the Island’s Dental Clinic has been selected to study Dental Therapy & Hygiene in the UK at the Greater Manchester School for Dental Care Professions.

Charmaine said:

“I’m excited to be given this opportunity to progress further in my career, and I look forward to the challenges ahead.”

Charmaine’s course will commence on 2 January 2018 and will take 27 months to complete. On completion of the course, Charmaine will undertake the Royal College of Surgeons of England examination. Once fully qualified, Charmaine will return to the Island to take up post as the resident Dental Hygienist & Therapist and will be able to perform a wide range of duties including fillings, extractions on children and other preventative treatment such as scaling and polishing.

Senior Dentist, Wayne Badier, said:

“Charmaine has worked very hard during the past four years studying in order to be selected for this course. It is important that continuity of leadership is maintained within the Dental Clinic and who better to perform that task than Charmaine. She will make an excellent clinician.”

Director of Health, Akeem Ali, concluded:

“Our strategic intent is to develop a local and able workforce within the Health Directorate and we will continue to support local staff to develop and enhance their skills. Charmaine will undertake training and return to take on a role currently filled by an expatriate member of staff. We wish Charmaine every success.”
