ISLAND-WIDE MAJOR INCIDENT EXCERCISE – REMINDER

The public are reminded that a Major Incident Exercise is planned for the morning of Wednesday 17 December 2014.

During this time the Emergency Services and other responding agencies will be practising their response to a simulated major incident occurring on St Helena.  This is an essential exercise, not only for preparing for Airport Certification but also to prepare the Island for dealing with any major incident that may occur in the future.   It will be carried out within one of the Island communities.

Safety Marshalls will be deployed at the incident scene, and the public are asked to comply with any instructions given – for both their own safety and the safety of all persons taking part in the exercise.

The Police Directorate thanks everyone in advance for their co-operation and apologises for any inconvenience caused.

More information is available from Alistair Smith on telephone: 22721, or on the day from Exercise Control on 23690 (from 8.30am until 11am on Wednesday 17 December 2014).
