All employers on St Helena are reminded that a Minimum Wage for all employees will come into force on 1 June 2013.
The hourly minimum wage rates agreed by Executive Council on 26 February 2013 are:
• £2.30 per hour for all employees having attained the age of 18 years;
• £1.45 per hour for all young people having attained the age of 16 and 17 years.
Under the Employment Rights ordinance 2010, employers must from 1 June 2013 ensure their employees are paid at a rate that is at least the minimum rate they are entitled to receive.
