UPDATE ON INCIDENT AT CONSULATE HOTEL

MAN CHARGED

 At around 1pm on Tuesday 29 November 2016, St Helena Police and the Ambulance Service were called to the Consulate Hotel, Jamestown, where it was reported that a serious assault had occurred. As a result of this incident, a female received serious injuries and she remains in Jamestown Hospital receiving medical treatment.

A man was detained at the scene and has been in custody since his arrest.

Chief of Police, Trevor Botting, said:

“Following an incident at the Consulate Hotel on Tuesday, 29 November, a 33 year old man from Jamestown has been charged with the offence of attempted murder.

 “He remains in custody and will appear at Jamestown Magistrates Court today, Thursday 1 December 2016. Whilst the Police Service are not looking for anybody else in connection with this incident, anyone who has any information regarding these events is asked to contact the Police. This criminal investigation remains ongoing.”
