TUNA TAGGING PROGRAMME PUBLIC MEETING – WEDNESDAY, 1 AUGUST 2018

A public meeting to discuss the current Tuna Tagging work being carried out by the Environmental Management Division Marine Conservation Section, with support from the Centre for Environment, Fisheries & Aquaculture Science (Cefas), will be held at the Museum on Wednesday, 1 August 2018, at 6.30pm.

The Tuna Tagging Programme, funded by the International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tuna (ICCAT), under the Atlantic Ocean Tropical Tuna Tagging Programme (AOTTP), aims to deploy 5,600 tags within St Helena waters with support from members of the inshore and offshore fishing fleets.

The overall objective of this programme is to contribute to the food security and economic growth of St Helena and Atlantic coastal states by ensuring sustainable management of our tropical tuna resources.

An overview of the programme will be presented at the meeting followed by a Q&A session. All are invited to attend.
