The Immigration Service is part of the St Helena Police Directorate and deals with immigration and emigration of all visitors to the island aboard the RMS St Helena, yachts and other visiting vessels. The Service also manages applications for the St Helena British Overseas Territories Passport and all British Passport applications for both first time users and persons wishing to renew their existing document.

The Immigration team consists of an Immigration Executive, Senior Immigration Officer and two Immigration Officers. The Office deals with all immigration issues and one officer will manage each case ensuring that users of the service have a single point of contact.

Decisions on long term permits, permission to work and status applications are made by the Immigration Control Board.

The Immigration Office is situated at Ogborn House, Jamestown and is open from 9am-4pm Monday to Friday. On call arrangements are in place for emergency issues on weekends and evenings.
