The St Helena Community College (SHCC) can now offer students a wide range of online courses and qualifications via their partnership with Coursera.
Coursera is an online education provider that offers online courses, popularly known as MOOCs, or Massive Open Online Courses, from top universities around the world. Currently it has 150 university partners from 29 countries. These partners include Stanford, Duke, Penn, Princeton, Michigan, Peking, and HEC Paris. Coursera has also started partnering with companies like IBM, Google, and PwC.
Coursera is the most popular MOOC provider in the world based on the number of students (over 30 million learners) and has an active catalogue of over 2,700 online courses.
SHCC’s Acting Student Services Co-Ordinator, Cherilee Thomas-Johnson, said:
“I am extremely excited about the opportunities which Coursera makes possible. Through this programme, our students are able to access MOOCs from some of the world’s leading universities. The possibilities are endless with Coursera, regardless of your interest and/or career, you will definitely find a course that suits you. I hope this programme will encourage the student community to engage more in online education.”
Working with universities and other organisations, Coursera offers online courses, specialisations, and degrees in a variety of subjects, such as engineering, humanities, medicine, biology, social sciences, mathematics, business, computer science, digital marketing, data science, and others.
