RUPERT’S BEACH AREA

UPDATE

Further to the press release of 10 February 2017 on the closure of the Rupert’s Beach area, the Health Directorate can now confirm that the source of the seeping wastewater onto the beach has been located.

The problem was a blocked manhole along the pipe system used for transferring waste from the old Argos building. The blockage has now been removed and essential repairs are being made to the affected manhole and pipes in the area.

All parties are working as swiftly as possible to rectify the situation. In the meantime the Rupert’s Beach area remains closed.

The public will be advised when Rupert’s Beach will be reopened for recreational use.
