RMS ST HELENA UPDATE

St Helena Government can confirm that the RMS St Helena is currently experiencing some minor problems which are suspected to be associated with the tail shaft.

The problem was investigated by divers whilst the vessel was anchored in James’ Bay on Saturday. Following this, it was agreed that it was acceptable for the RMS to sail as planned on Sunday.

The RMS is now on her way to Cape Town and the Captain is confident that the vessel will meet her estimated time of arrival.

There are no plans to dry-dock while in Cape Town but divers and technical experts will further examine the tail shaft there. Work needing to be undertaken will be carried out during the scheduled dry-docking in August.

The RMS schedule will not be affected.
