Public Transport to Start New Trial Run

4 November 2009

From Saturday evening, 7 November, Public Transport will include two new runs leaving Jamestown at 10pm for Alarm Forest, Levelwood, Longwood, and Half Tree Hollow, Scotland and New Ground Point with other stops.

This is to operate for three months in the first instance to determine demand for the new service.

Gillian Francis, Acting Chief Secretary, said that if there is sufficient usage by members of the public, the run will continue beyond the three month period.

SHG has produced a bus schedule for this run and this will be available from the Tourist Office in Jamestown, from the Public Library and from on the buses.

The St Helena Government is continuing to subsidise public transport to ensure that prices can remain the same and a new contract was recently signed with Colin’s Garage, Fox Motors and Solomon’s and Company to continue with the service.
