Register to be Updated for 2009 General Elections

28 September 2009

A number of people have made applications to the Returning Officer to have their names included on the 2009 Register of Electors. The names were published in an extraordinary Government Gazette on 15 September 2009 and the public had one week to make objections to any of the names.

Returning Officer, Gillian Francis, said that there were no objections from the public and all of the applicants have now been informed that their names will be on the 2009 Register of Electors. This will allow all of the applicants to participate in the 2009 General Election along with the other people on the register.

Anyone over the age of 21 years can stand for Election providing they are on the 2009 Register and everyone on the register has the right to vote.

The revised registers will now be printed, and will be available for inspection shortly.
