HE Governor Lisa Phillips has appointed Elizabeth Clingham as the new General Manager of the St Helena Fisheries Corporation.

Elizabeth’s appointment will take effect from 1 July 2017 for a period of three years.

Chairman of the St Helena Fisheries Corporation Board, Lawson Henry, said:

“On behalf of the Fisheries Board, I am delighted to welcome Elizabeth as our new General Manager of the Corporation and I look forward to working with her.  The fisheries sector is important to the Island’s economic development and is one of our few exports.

“Elizabeth has a wealth of knowledge of the sector and with the right support I am confident that she will be able to use her knowledge to bring about economic growth to the sector. I wish her well in taking on this challenging role.”

Elizabeth added:

“There is no doubt that taking on this role is going to be a huge undertaking. I hope that with the support of all industry stakeholders, an approach can be developed to support industry growth through partnership and pride in our fisheries.”
