FATAL ROAD TRAFFIC ACCIDENT

DEADWOOD ROAD

St Helena Police have today, Friday 8 September 2017, charged two men with causing death by reckless driving. Both have been released on bail and will appear before the St Helena Magistrates Court at a later date.

Detective Inspector David Honan said:

“I am still appealing to the public to come forward with any information that they may have relating to this incident.  I am particularly interested in speaking to anybody who was in Rupert’s between 1.30am and 3am on the morning of Saturday, 12 August 2017, or who was travelling on the Haul Road or through Deadwood at this time.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank those members of the community who have already come forward and spoken to us.

“There continue to be additional mobile police patrols on the roads of St Helena. Those individuals who choose to drink and drive or drive their vehicles in an anti-social manner can expect to be stopped and dealt with.”
