Education Management Consultant, Trevor Gordon, arrived on St Helena on Wednesday, 16 November 2016, to provide a five-day training course to 18 Government personnel on Equality & Diversity (equal opportunities). This training was funded by St Helena Government and was a recommendation made by the WASS Inquiry.
The training began on Wednesday 16 November and focused on Government’s commitment to equality & diversity, making sure that people are aware of issues of race, disability, gender discrimination, sexual orientation and age.
The first three days of the training was all about learning, and during the last two days, participants had to prepare and deliver their own training.
Trevor said:
“By training this wonderful group of people, I am hoping that they will be a sort of snowball effect, and train everyone else.
“I believe that the training I have delivered on St Helena will make a difference, because of the Saints. I have travelled all over the world, I am 57 years old, and the Saints are one of the nicest, most respectful, kindest people that I have ever met.”
Participant, Sarah Williams, commented:
“The training was empowering and uplifting. An enormous amount of knowledge has been gained by all delegates. Trevor is a knowledgeable man who showed great passion in what he does and he was very professional and inspiring.”
Trevor started his own company 15 years ago called ‘Gordon French Associates Limited’. Since then, he has travelled around the world teaching Compliance Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, in education, in local governments, and in the private sector.
Trevor departed the Island on Wednesday 23 November 2016.
