The Economic Development Committee (EDC) working with Enterprise St Helena, Bank of St Helena and Solomon & Company (St Helena) Plc have started a campaign to encourage local businesses to make sure they have Liability Insurance.
What is Liability Insurance?
Liability Insurance covers the cost of legal action and compensation claims made against a business if a member of the public is injured or their property suffers damage whilst at your business premises, or when you are working in their home, office or business property.
How can it benefit my business?
By having Liability Insurance you ensure that if an accident happens on your business premises it can be paid for by having the right level of insurance, and your business will not risk bankruptcy in some cases to pay the damages. Businesses – don’t be unsure – instead get insured.
Chairperson of the EDC, Councillor Lawson Henry, explains:
“We are encouraging local businesses to take advantage of available Liability Insurance and to view this as an investment and responsible addition to a good business plan. You are not only helping your business but the more businesses on the Island who take out insurance will reduce everyone’s costs in the longer term.”
Where can I get Liability Insurance?

How much will it cost?
Costs will vary depending on the factors relevant to each individual business, however is based on the annual turnover and limit of cover your business requires.
