ELECTRICAL AWARDS 2016

????????????????????????????????????

The St Helena Community College Electrical Awards were celebrated on Monday 3 October 2016. Presenting the awards was Electrical Trainer John Orr.

Credit Awards were presented for units completed within the Level 2 Diploma in Electro-Technology (Buildings and Structures). An award was also presented for Level 3 in Electrical Installations Technology.

Director of Education, Shirley Wahler, welcomed all to the presentation and said:

“Welcome to all of you, and congratulations to those of you who have been recognised this evening for your hard work. I would like to also thank you for being prepared to invest in yourselves, because that is what committing to adult education and continuous development is, an investment in yourself and in the growth of the community.

“This is the first official event that we have held here since the opening of the new St Helena Community College, which now supports this training. This is a huge step for the Island, but it is only the first step. We plan to offer many different kinds of training, and we hope that those of you who are here tonight to be recognised for the training that you have already completed will also be keen to go on even further.

“We hope that you will encourage your friends, family members and co-workers to see what they can do to build their skills and improve their qualifications, so we can work together to help take St Helena forward.”

In her closing speech, Assistant Director, Lifelong Learning, Kerry Yon, concluded:

“The most rewarding part of my job, or of any educationalist’s job, is to see people achieve their goals. It is really important to recognise achievements and also to give people a boost to carry on learning.”

Special thanks were extended to John for making the trip to St Helena and also for his coordination and provision of the qualifications. Thanks also went out to Enterprise St Helena (ESH), David Goodrick, tutors, the education team, employers and all students.
