CRIMINAL DAMAGE IN THE CASTLE GARDENS

UPDATE

A male resident of Jamestown voluntarily came forward on Tuesday, 9 May 2017, in relation to the criminal damage caused to the chess table in the Castle Gardens, which took place between the hours of 9pm on Friday 21 April, and 8.30am on Saturday, 22 April 2017.

The matter, which involved the destruction of the table donated to Mr Anthony Caswell, was deemed appropriate to be dealt with through the restorative justice approach. This will see either the damage repaired or the table replaced and an apology given to Mr Caswell by the person responsible.

Detective Sergeant, David Honan, said:

“The public is thanked for their support and reminded that if anyone wishes to pass on information in relation to suspected criminal activities that they can do so – the information will be treated with the utmost confidentiality.

“Deliberate damage to amenities enjoyed by the public will not be tolerated and anyone caught doing so will be subject to police action.”
