CALLING THE EMERGENCY SERVICES FOR ASSISTANCE

The following is a Public Announcement from the Police Directorate’s Emergency Services:

St Helena Emergency Services would like to remind the public of the correct contact numbers to call for assistance in the event of an emergency.

For emergencies that require the assistance of the St Helena Police, the St Helena Fire & Rescue Service, and/or the Sea Rescue Service, the number to call is 999.

For emergencies that require immediate medical assistance and/or an ambulance, the number to call is 911.

Recently, Sure South Atlantic Ltd have received emergency calls to their Sure Directory Enquiries line on 22222 instead of the calls being made to the correct emergency numbers.

Whilst these emergency requests were relayed to the Emergency Services Control room, Sure Directory Enquiries are not staffed 24/7 and therefore should not be called in the event of an emergency.

The public is reminded of the correct procedure when contacting the Emergency Services in an emergency and are thanked for your continued cooperation.
